Flutter-By

While I was trying to photograph the new yellow bark on the Eucalyptus leucoxylon, this rather tattered-looking butterfly landed right in front of my camera. It appears to be an Australian Admiral (Vanessa itea).

Transplants

Attempted transplanting some seedlings which were growing several to a pot. I don't hold out much hope of them doing well.

I think it is really too late to be transplanting them when they are this size, but any that survive are a bonus.

Creeper

Pink trumpet vine (Podranea ricasoliana) in full bloom.

What a weed this thing is! I would never have planted it if I had known what it could do. Left to its own devices, I think it would cover the house in one summer and demolish it in the second.

I seem to be quite grey on top now.

Induction

The "function room" on level 2 is nowhere near as attractive as the outside of this building.

3-hour induction before the beginning of semester today.

Rainbow Camouflage

You wouldn't think that being the colour of a rainbow would be good camouflage, but it isn't easy to see these two Rainbow Lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus) attacking the almonds.

Wirraway

A Wirraway without its wings or tail. Not something I expected to see while out on a walk.

The plane belongs to the Melbourne Museum. They do have the other bits of it. I had heard that the museum had a storage facility somewhere in the northern suburbs, and I guess I know where it is now.

Skip Rescue

New leaf opening on a Monstera deliciosa rescued from a skip. Photo side-on courtesy of Blogger.

I couldn't get the whole plant out of the skip, so I cut off what I could. Two of those cuttings are now growing.

Chocolate Required!

After an interview which really is probably best forgotten, I was glad I still had some of these left.

They've lasted for a while; I think they were given to me on the 10th December.

Skirt

Finished the skirt I was sewing at Sewjourn.

It hangs straighter on me than it was hanging on the line.
